Welcome to the practicum. This class is designed to introduce you to the breadth of methods, theoretical perspectives, and areas of research that comprise societal computing. You should gain an understanding of what types of methods are used and how they complement each other. You should gain an understanding of how multi-theoretical perspectives can shed greater understanding on complex socio-technical problems than might a single disciplinary perspective. You should gain an understanding of the kinds of research questions, and the kinds of research methods, that are employed by the faculty.
